Connect the Dots and see the “Big Picture”

Suggested Audience: Superintendents, principals, curriculum directors and educators

There are many educational initiatives taking place in Ohio. The Connecting the Dots Conference is an interactive training experience where participants will create a plan and learn how to relate these initiatives to one another, and visualize the implementation in their district. Teams of district educators (2-5 people) will work to see the “Big Picture” and how Ohio’s education reforms support student success.

Connecting the Dots training is project-based learning, an instructional method that allow participants to conduct tasks, promotes thinking skills, drives hands-on problem solving, and allows participants to discover there are many ways to solve a problem.

On-site registration will be available at the event. Please arrive early.

The OAASFEP Title I/Federal Programs Spring Conference is also being held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center from March 20 – 22.  Participants of the OAASFEP Conference, which adjourns at noon on March 22, may wish to stay and participate in the afternoon session of the Connecting the Dots: Diving Deeper into Ohio’s Education Reform Efforts conference.

I registered for the conference but didn’t pick any sessions except the opening because of it not being accurate with time schedules yet. Will I be able to select sessions or will they be open sessions?

A notification will be sent to all registrants when session times are updated in STARS. You may pick the sessions you wish to attend at that time. If you have any questions about registration, please contact Adrienne Carr at adrienne.carr@education.ohio.gov.

  5. Linda

I have just registered for this and was able to get a hotel room at the Hilton; however, I missed the conference rate, which closed on February 19. Is there any way I can still get the conference rate? If so, how? Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

    February 26, 2013 at 3:14 pm

    • Hi Linda,
unfortunately, the conference rate is not available at this time. However, if you like you can check with the Hyatt or another nearby hotel and indicate you are a state educator and see if they have any special rates. Hope this helps.

Still not quite sure how the schedule works. Since Connecting the Dots is the featured training, why are there so many other offerings at the same time? If we attend the 9:00 Connecting the Dots session, then we can’t take part in anything else till session three…correct???

    March 20, 2013 at 6:23 pm

    • Chris,
Connecting the Dots is the featured session at 9:00 AM with numerous offerings during that time. The additional 9:00 AM sessions are for those who may have previously attended a Connecting the Dots session as an alternative to Connecting the Dots. These sessions are mostly LEAs presenting best practices and strategies in their district. If you would like to attend any of these at 9:00 AM there is an additional Connecting the Dots session available at 2:00 PM. Hope this helps. Thanks!
